GST formulas

Add GST

GST = price × rate / 100
Total = price + GST

₹ 10,000 at 18 % → GST ₹ 1,800, total ₹ 11,800.

Remove GST

Price = total × 100 / (100 + rate)
GST = total - price

₹ 11,800 incl. 18 % → price ₹ 10,000, GST ₹ 1,800.

Questions, answered.

How do I add GST to a price?

GST amount = price x rate / 100. Total = price + GST. Example: ₹ 10,000 at 18 % = ₹ 1,800 GST, total ₹ 11,800.

How do I remove GST from a total (inclusive price)?

Price without GST = total x 100 / (100 + rate). Example: ₹ 11,800 including 18 % GST = ₹ 10,000 + ₹ 1,800 GST.

When is it CGST + SGST and when IGST?

A sale inside your own state has CGST + SGST, each half of the rate. A sale to another state has one IGST at the full rate.
